Mushroom Compost

As our concern for the environment grows, every industry has become aware of the importance of being as green as possible. And for mushroom producers, the substrate or compost in which they grow their mushrooms is the perfect green material for improving a garden's soil or for mixing a customized, healthy, organic potting mix.

Materials:

Mushroom compost (available online from local mushroom growers)
Soilless mix
Turkey grit
Charcoal

Directions:

1. Add one part mushroom compost, one part grit and three parts soiless mix with a small handful of charcoal (to keep the soil fresh).

2. Mix thoroughly and use for potting houseplants and containers for outdoors. This mix may have a slight mushroomy smell at first but the smell dissipates quickly.
